Volkswagen has recently released corporate and core brand sales figures. Electric car sales have climbed dramatically in each scenario, but full-electric vehicle production is still ramping up. Volkswagen Sachsen is presently taking stock and presenting an outlook for 2022.
With 218,000 total electric vehicles manufactured in 2022, the Zwickau vehicle plant produced around 38,000 more automobiles than the previous year. "Despite the unpredictable supply environment, we were able to increase the number of vehicles produced," says Robert Janssen, CEO and Managing Director of Technology and Logistics at Volkswagen Sachsen. Therefore, kudos to the complete team for excellently managing the enormous problems caused by three practically contemporaneous crises.
According to the corporation, the average number of vehicles created in Zwickau is more than 1,400 electric cars per day - so many vehicles have never been manufactured in the vehicle facility. Further conversion measures are carried out in the summer to boost the daily yield from fall. "We have set ourselves the aim of exceeding the result from 2022 in terms of vehicles produced, depending on the continuing expansion of the e-mobility sector and the supply situation, even if the supply situation continues turbulent," Janssen said of the expectation for 2023.
In 2022, the Transparent Factory in Dresden produced over 6,500 units of the tiny Volkswagen ID3 battery car, 2,100 more than the previous year. The Transparent Factory is still Volkswagen's second largest national delivery facility, after the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, with 2,740 vehicles delivered. "With more than 81,000 visitors, twice as many people attended as in the previous year, which was influenced by many lockdowns. "4,000 guided tours in six languages were conducted, and 5,500 test drives were accomplished," according to the business.
