The Kia EV6 GT electric car combines the best features of a super sports car, a crossover, and a grand tourer. Since the EV6's debut in March 2021, many interested parties have been able to place reservations for the crossover athlete. The Kia EV6 was just voted Europe's "Car of the Year 2022." As a result, we cannot take any new reservations now. That's no longer the case, as Kia has released information about the EV6 GT's standard features and pricing, formally kicking off sales.
The Kia EV6 GT with 430 kW (585 PS) power is now again available for order. The standard, fully-equipped Kia EV6 GT has a starting price of 69.990 euros, although this price may be lowered depending on the funding conditions in effect throughout the application process. The manufacturer's 7-year warranty also covers the battery powering the drive. As a result, the EV6 GT has one of the best warranties available from a European automaker for an electric vehicle. The time production will fulfill early purchases from European clients begins in September.
Kia Germany MD Thomas Djuren believes the EV6 GT is "redefining the electric crossover market" for the company. "As a company, we are dedicated to setting the industry standard in environmentally friendly transportation options. Kia's EV6 GT proves that a fully electric crossover can provide unprecedented levels of fun behind the wheel."
The nearly 4.70-meter-long, all-wheel-drive crossover, built on the new electric platform E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform), is the quickest-accelerating product in the whole Hyundai Motor Group, to which Kia also belongs. In under 3.5 seconds, you can reach 100 km/h, and the Kia EV6 GT electric crossover can reach a top speed of 260 km/h. The ability to rev quickly is the foundation of the Kia EV6 GT's high-performance technology. Two motors, one on each axle, can spin at a whopping 21,000 rpm. The EV6's front-mounted engine was kept for this model. The new, cutting-edge rear engine features a two-stage inverter with silicon carbide semiconductors and oil-cooled "hairpin" stator coils (SiC).
The sporty, finely adjusted, high-performance chassis makes the outstanding transmission of drive power and torque of up to 740 Nm. The exciting handling results from many factors, including the vehicle's low center of gravity, direct steering, powerful brakes, electronic damper control (ECS), and electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD). The electric crossover reveals its true athletic colors when put into GT mode. The drift mode sends up to one hundred percent of drive power to the rear wheels, allowing for unlimited sideways motions.
To indeed qualify as a modern grand tourer, the EV6 GT needs to offer more than just exceptional performance on the track. The Kia EV6 GT electric crossover has a maximum range of 424 m per charge. The electric crossover can be charged during a coffee break thanks to its ultra-fast 800-volt charging technology, which is currently only available in many electric vehicles. Even on colder days, the crossover's battery is in an optimal charging state because of the battery preconditioning and navigation system, which allows for maximum charging efficiency.
The Kia Charge charging service provides easy access to Europe's top fast charging network (Ionity), allowing drivers to make the most of the EV6 GT's exceptional charging capability. Hyundai Motor Group, Kia's parent business, facilitates Kia's participation in this alliance of major automakers. Kia Charge gives you access to over 360,000 DCS public charging points across Europe, including nearly all public stations in Germany, thanks to the company's cooperation with Digital Charging Solutions.
Since the Kia EV6 electric car already has an incredibly dynamic design that has garnered the highest prizes, Kia has made only trendy modifications to the appearance of the EV6 GT in a few areas. The GT's energy is highlighted by a unique front bumper with vertical design components. Looking at it from the side, you can tell it has a sporty personality thanks to the 21-inch alloy wheels and that it has outstanding stopping power because of the brake calipers that are neon colors. The athlete is distinguished by a custom-made GT bumper complete with a diffuser located at the vehicle's tail end. Overall, the revised styling gives the Kia EV6 GT an air of unwavering reliability. Runway Red Metallic is the base color, with Snow White Pearl and Moonscape Matte as options.
With its high-quality fittings, the cabin manages to be both sporty and relaxing. The vegan suede-like covers on the black sports seats, accented with neon green stitching, provide excellent lumbar support and look great while doing it. Electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD) uses the Meridian sound system to generate a synthetic engine noise, which helps convey the vehicle's performance to the passengers. The two 31.2 cm (12.3 inches) screens that make up the digital instrument cluster and navigation system that features online services from Kia Connect are arranged in a curved panorama display that serves as a defining feature of the cabin. They display charging stations with information about their availability and compatibility and provide cloud-based online navigation and real-time traffic updates. The Kia Connect app allows for wireless data transfer to and from the car and remote control of several features.
The 2.90-meter wheelbase gives the EV6 GT as much inside capacity as a mid-range SUV, despite the car's tiny exterior dimensions. Not only do its occupants have plenty of room to stretch out, but the car's luggage compartment can hold up to 1,260 liters when the rear seatbacks are folded down from their upright position (with the ski hatch in place). Additional 20 liters of space can be found in the "Frunk" area.
The Kia EV6 GT's cutting-edge features include numerous advanced aids. The all-round view camera, exit assistant, front collision warning with turning function and cross-traffic detection, adaptive dual LED headlights that automatically adjust the illumination of the road to the traffic situation, and a remote parking assistant that can autonomously maneuver the vehicle into a parking spot are just some of the features available.
Standard features include a solar glass windscreen, side and rear windows, electric windows with impulse function on all four doors, sports pedals, ambient lighting, two-zone automatic air conditioning, and a head-up display with augmented reality (AR) functions, to name a few. The electric vehicle also has privacy glazing (on the rear side windows and rear window) and a wind deflector. Extra features include a removable trailer hitch and a motorized glass sunroof, but the list is otherwise quite limited because of the extensive standard features. The Kia EV6 GT may seem like a racecar, but it makes for a great team vehicle and can pull trailers with a maximum weight of 1.8 tons.
Also, the electric car's standard "Vehicle-to-Device" (V2D) capability allows up to 3.6 kW of power to be drawn from the vehicle battery, making it a unique and valuable feature. The electric vehicle's charging connection is turned into a regular socket using an adaptor, which can then charge other electric cars, home appliances, or even e-bikes.
