Dacia goes electric when it's needed, but not before

Dacia Spring

Dacia is a low-cost car brand owned by the Renault Group. In 2021, the Dacia Spring small SUV was its first electric car. The Dacia Spring electric car is popular, but Romania will only start a slight push for electric cars in the next few years. The process of making electric cars should move slowly.

Next, Dacia will start selling the Dacia Jogger hybrid series in the spring. Most of the technology for this series comes from Renault. Last year, a study on e-cars was shown, but there are no plans for more full-electric cars. But the company is not just sitting there.

In an interview with the Motor1 portal, CEO Denis Le Vot said that "groundbreaking powertrains" are being made that can be used with alternative and synthetic fuels. Dacia will keep developing affordable EV solutions to help Europe switch to electric cars.

"You'll see that we'll gradually add electricity when we have to, but not before," says Le Vot. By 2030, electric cars will likely make up half of the European market. No one knows how fast electrification will happen, but it will happen soon.

The car manager said there were better ideas than the new Euro 7 emissions standard. CO2 can be saved in other ways. Dacia's LPG-powered Jogger already has an outstanding CO2 value of 115 grams, which is a good sign.

The CEO also said that Dacia doesn't rely too much on e-mobility because not all European customers have access to charging stations. But he was also happy with how much people wanted the Dacia Spring electric car. Since the model came out, the company has had 100,000 orders for Dacia Spring. @via Dacia.
