The Porsche Taycan Turbo S will replace the BMW i8 Roadster as the Formula E championship's safety car in 2022. The safety car will debut at the championship's first round on January 28-29 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
Porsche is electric saloon will race with a multicolored livery that incorporates each team's colors on the grid, as well as the colors of the championship and the FIA. In addition, it will have the number 22 to represent the number of series participants this year.
The Taycan Turbo S is Porsche's flagship electric car, with a 751hp twin-motor, a four-wheel-drive system that propels it from 0-62mph in 2.6 seconds - 0.2 seconds faster than Formula E racers.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S has undergone several modifications to make it eligible for a safety car. The front and rear bumpers of the electric car, for example, have integrated flashing lights that function in tandem with the conspicuous lightbar on the roof.
The back seats have been replaced with a roll-cage, while the front seats feature racing bucket seats with six-point harnesses. It meets FIA circuit safety regulations thanks to a 'high-tech' communication system, a Marelli data recorder system, and a fire extinguisher.
