Norway is well-known for its breathtaking scenery, forward-thinking social policies, and enthusiasm for electric automobiles. Norway plans to end sales of new automobiles powered by fossil fuels by the year 2025, and its citizens own more electric cars per person than any other people in the world. Considering this, the fact that the Toyota bZ4X, the company's first dedicated BEV, has risen to the second most popular car in Norway is nothing short of remarkable.
Since its release in late 2022, the Toyota bZ4X has won the hearts of many Norwegian motorists. The Norwegian Road Traffic Administration reports that in the month of March 2023 alone, over a thousand new Toyota bZ4Xs were sold in Norway. This helped Toyota achieve a first-quarter market share of 12.9% in the lucrative passenger-vehicle industry. The Toyota bZ4X, with 1,737 registrations in the new car statistics over the same time frame, is currently the year's second-most popular vehicle.
So, why do so many Norwegians choose to buy Toyota bZ4X vehicles? Its performance is one of several contributing elements to its popularity. The bZ4X was developed on Toyota's new e-TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, created for EVs. Its design gives a roomier interior and a sturdy framework for superior handling, suspension, and stability.
Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with X-MODE are available for the Toyota bZ4X. The base model with front-wheel drive generates 201 horsepower and 196 pound-feet of torque from a single electric motor, while the top trim with all-wheel drive uses two electric motors to provide 214 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. The X-MODE function of the all-wheel-drive system optimizes the performance of the bZ4X by modifying the application of throttle, brakes, and driving force in response to adverse road conditions.
