The new Toyota C-HR Prologue was developed at ED

The first indication that Toyota was planning to debut an entirely new type of car in the C-SUV category came in October 2014 during the Paris Motor Show. It was there that the world first heard about the "Toyota C-HR Concept." The vision became a reality just over two years later. Toyota introduced the C-HR, a car that refused to compromise and was not scared to stand out.

In 2022, a new issue arose: how to push the Toyota C-HR even further? How to rekindle the thrill and joy of people who already know and adore the Toyota C-HR for its toughness and fun factor?

The Toyota C-HR Prologue is now available. It demonstrates that Toyota will once again offer everything. The current Toyota C-HR was designed at ED, Toyota's European design development headquarters in the south of France. The new Toyota C-HR Prologue was also developed at ED (Toyota European Design Development). The goal for ED was simple but ambitious: to surpass what they had already accomplished.

The Toyota C-HR Prologue is a first - but authentic - glimpse of a car that will soon be seen on European roads. The Toyota C-HR Prologue is much more than a concept model; it demonstrates that Toyota remains true to what made the Toyota C-HR such a success.

A glance at the Toyota C-HR Prologue reveals that the vehicle has preserved its original DNA. However, something has definitely been added in the next generation.

The Toyota C-HR Prologue is still challenging and maybe divisive, but it has a more sophisticated and bolder appearance. It provokes and entertains as it always does, but the Toyota C-HR Prologue combines attributes rarely encountered in the same vehicle. It has longer overhangs and larger wheels. It enhances the sense of sportiness while also increasing the functional space conditions inside.

The Toyota C-HR Prologue abandons static lines in favor of a subtle depiction of movement that shifts from sharp to fluid. Surfaces change shape and flow due to a precise design language derived from two seemingly opposing values. The Toyota C-HR is both unusually modernist and humanistic, with forms reflecting organic movement and meticulous precision. The Toyota Prologue C-SUV looks excellent, but I prefer the Toyota RAV4 plug-in hybrid.

The redesigned "hammerhead" design is featured on the front as part of a 3D architecture with interconnected elements and a distinct light signature. To reinforce the high-tech identity, the grill apertures shrink in size while the headlamps grow narrower. The interconnected form design motif is carried over into the bodywork and contributes to the car's distinctive appearance.

The Toyota C-HR Prologue C-SUV has a third paint color option: sulfur over silver metallic and recycled carbon black. It was created from the beginning to stand out with a three-color option. And it does stand out.

Toyota's dedication to carbon neutrality is demonstrated by the Toyota C-HR Prologue, which offers a broader electrification solution in Europe's largest and most competitive segment: the C-SUV. In addition to the hybrid version, the new Toyota C-HR plug-in hybrid with batteries made in Europe will broaden Toyota's portfolio of technologies.
