Opel, the German carmaker that is part of Stellantis, has announced a deal with PostNord, the Swedish postal service, to deliver 400 electric cars by spring 2024. This is a remarkable achievement for Opel, as it will be the first time a major commercial vehicle fleet will be powered by electric vehicles in Sweden.
Why PostNord chose Opel
PostNord has been looking for a reliable and efficient partner to provide electric vehicles for its mail delivery operations. The company has been testing different models and technologies for several years and has decided to go with Opel because of its proven track record of delivering high-quality vehicles that meet the highest safety, performance, and sustainability standards.
Opel has been a pioneer in electric mobility since 2010 when it launched the first mass-produced electric car in Europe: the Ampera. Since then, Opel has expanded its portfolio of electric vehicles to include sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs, and vans. In 2020, Opel sold over 100,000 electric vehicles worldwide, making it one of the leading players in the fast-growing market.
Opel’s electric vehicles have advanced features such as regenerative braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind spot detection, and wireless charging. They also have a range of up to 400 kilometers (249 miles) on a single charge, which is enough to cover most of PostNord’s routes across Sweden.
