Iveco Bus, the leader in buses with alternative fuel technology, delivers its new hybrid technology in the CROSSWAY Low Entry models, which are available in natural gas and XTL fuel versions. At the FIAA 2022 (International Bus and Coach Trade Fair) show in Madrid, IVECO BUS showed off its newest green transportation option: the first Low Entry Hybrid model in its Crossway line, which is the undisputed European market leader in its category with a total production of almost 55,000 units. With the new hybrid models, which can run on natural gas or XTL fuel, the brand keeps adding more efficient options for transportation companies that want to reduce their carbon footprint.
"The new Iveco Bus CROSSWAY LE Hybrid expands our range of suburban vehicles and makes it possible for transportation companies to make big cuts in energy costs and carbon emissions compared to older models. This is another step in IVECO BUS's plan to drive the energy transition by combining different technologies. IVECO BUS is a leader in alternative propulsion, and this is another step in their plan. The goal is to give customers more options for solutions to pick one that best fits their mission and operational needs. With this new launch, we continue to increase our brand's ability to provide the broadest environmental offer, including designs for the suburbs, and we solidify our position as one of the most important players in our European segment ".
The hybrid technology in the electric drivetrain was made in close cooperation with Voith. The new Iveco Bus CROSSWAY Low Entry Hybrid has a 48V battery connected to a Voith DIWA NXT gearbox and a Cursor 9 motor that has been used for years. The DIWA NXT transmission is paired with a powerful 35 kW peak electric recovery motor, which acts as a starter motor and generator to recover the kinetic energy built up during the deceleration and braking phases. A high-energy LTO battery (48 V) is mounted on the roof. The electric motor helps the Cursor 9 motor move during the starting phase.
The new approach also has a Stop & Start function, which benefits users and operators. For example, it stops noise and vibrations at bus stops, making them more comfortable for passengers, residents, and people walking by. It also improves fuel economy even more.
With these characteristics, the new generation of the IVECO BUS CROSSWAY LE Hybrid saves more fuel than the non-hybrid version. This is a significant benefit at a time when energy costs are going up for businesses.
The IVECO BUS CROSSWAY LE Hybrid also has the well-known features of the CROSSWAY and comes with features that are meant to make the driver and passengers feel better. @VIA IVECO BUS.
