The model won three awards in spring: World Car of the Year, Electric Car of the Year, and Car Design of the Year. So, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 won in every possible category.
Statistics from the Road Traffic Information Council show that after four months of sales, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is also Norway's third most registered car (OFV). As a brand, Hyundai is fighting for fourth place; this year, a whopping 97 percent of the brand's cars are electric.
After the first four months of the year, Hyundai has just under 7% of the market in Norway, and sales are expected to grow by a massive 111.86% by 2021.
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 beat 27 other electric cars from all price ranges and parts of the auto industry to win the prestigious World Car of the Year title.
A group of 102 motoring journalists from 33 countries worldwide gave the award to the IONIQ 5. People liked the car because of its features, long-range, and innovative design. The innovative electric car has already won many awards worldwide, beating out some tough finalists in the process.
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the first model in the IONIQ line of electric cars from Hyundai. To its full potential, the car uses the ground-breaking electric car platform E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform). As a result, it has 800V charging technology.
The platform also gives the Hyundai IONIQ 5 much space and versatility. This means the car is a lot bigger than a normal car. With rear-wheel drive and the new 77.4kWh battery pack that comes with the 2023 model, the car is expected to have a range of more than 500km. As before, the car has advanced technology like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), state-of-the-art safety and driver assistance systems, and connected solutions that provide the best onboard experience.
Hyundai is changing from a traditional car maker to an intelligent mobility provider. The company is speeding up its plan to make electric cars to become the world's leading electric car maker. Hyundai wants to have 17 all-electric models on the market by 2030 and it just released images with the 2023 Hyundai Kona SUV. These will include electric cars from the Genesis luxury brand.
