Ford has unveiled a new version of its electric crossover, the Mustang Mach-E, at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is a rally-inspired model that combines the zero-emission powertrain of the Mach-E with the off-road capabilities and high-speed performance of a rally car.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is not just a concept or a one-off show car. It is a production-intent model that will be available to order in the US and Europe later this year. Ford says it is the first-ever rally-inspired Mustang Mach-E, and it aims to provide customers with the freedom to venture off the asphalt and beyond the beaten path.
What makes the Mustang Mach-E Rally different?
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is based on the Ford GT Performance Edition of the Mach-E, which delivers 480 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque from its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The Rally version adds some distinctive features that enhance its off-road and on-road performance, such as:
- A reprofiled front bumper with new spotlights in the grille and faux intakes featuring dozens of tessellated "MM" logos.
- A rear diffuser and a large wing that resembles those of the Focus RS.
- A raised suspension with increased ground clearance and improved damping.
- A set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in knobby tires that provide a better grip on dirt and gravel.
- A unique paint scheme that features a colorful gradient from blue to orange, along with black accents and stripes.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally also features some interior upgrades, such as:
- Recaro sport seats with blue stitching and "Rally" logos.
- A carbon fiber dashboard with a digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch infotainment display.
- A rally-style steering wheel with paddle shifters and a red start button.
- A custom sound system that simulates the engine noise of a rally car.
