According to market experts JATO Dynamics and IHS Markit, the plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Kuga was the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle of any make in Europe for the second year in a row. Compared to the previous year, the overall number of sales of the model saw a twenty percent increase.
The plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Kuga has a system output of 165 kW (225 hp) and currently starts at 43,750 euros. The Ford Kuga plug-in hybrid can travel for up to 56 kilometers only on electric power. Moreover, the battery can be charged via an external source. The overall energy usage is officially recorded as 14.4 to 15.9 kWh/100 km, the fuel consumption is recorded as 1.0 l/100 km, and the CO2 emissions are recorded as 22 g/km.
Jon Williams, general manager of Ford Blue Europe, stated that the growing success of the Ford Kuga plug-in hybrid demonstrates the role that flexible powertrains can play in the gradual transition to electric mobility.
