Citroen has been making waves in the electric car market with its e-C4 hatchback, which offers a stylish design, a comfortable ride, and a generous range of up to 217 miles on a single charge. But what if you want something more spacious, more versatile, and more adventurous? Enter the e-C4 X, the brand's first electric crossover that takes everything you love about the e-C4 and adds more power, more space, and more range.
More Power
The Citroen e-C4 X is powered by a 100-kW (134-hp) electric motor that delivers 192 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. That's 10 kW (13 hp) and 15 lb-ft more than the e-C4, which means you can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 9.0 seconds, compared to 9.7 seconds for the hatchback. The top speed is also higher, at 99 mph versus 93 mph.
The Citroen e-C4 X also comes with a larger battery pack, with a capacity of 60 kWh compared to 50 kWh for the Citroen e-C4. This allows you to travel up to 261 miles on a single charge, according to the WLTP cycle. That's an impressive improvement of 44 miles over the hatchback, and it puts the e-C4 X ahead of many rivals in its segment.
More Space
The e-C4 X is not only more powerful than the e-C4 but also more spacious. It has a longer wheelbase (106.3 inches versus 105.1 inches), a higher ground clearance (6.7 inches versus 6.1 inches), and a larger trunk (17.7 cubic feet versus 15.3 cubic feet). The e-C4 X also has a more upright stance, with a taller roofline and a more pronounced rear spoiler.
The interior of the Citroen e-C4 X is equally roomy and comfortable, with plenty of headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers. The cabin is also well-equipped with features such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a head-up display, and a panoramic sunroof.
The e-C4 X also benefits from Citroen's Advanced Comfort program, which includes progressive hydraulic cushions for the suspension, advanced comfort seats with memory foam, acoustic laminated windows, and ambient lighting.
More Range
The Citroen e-C4 X is not only more spacious than the e-C4 but also more versatile. It has three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, which let you adjust the power output, throttle response, steering feel, and regenerative braking according to your preferences and driving conditions.
The Citroen e-C4 X also has a smart thermal management system that optimizes the battery temperature and performance in different weather conditions. This helps to preserve the range and extend the battery life.
The e-C4 X can be charged using various methods, from a standard household outlet to a fast-charging station. Using a 100-kW DC charger, you can replenish up to 80% of the battery in just 30 minutes. Using a 32-A wallbox, you can fully charge the battery in about five hours.
More Reasons to Love It
The e-C4 X is not only more powerful, more spacious, and more versatile than the e-C4 but also more attractive. It has a distinctive design that combines elegance and dynamism with sleek lines, LED headlights and taillights, black roof rails, and alloy wheels.
The e-C4 X also has a competitive price tag that starts at $41,500 (converted from €36,900), which includes an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty for the battery and a five-year or 62,000-mile warranty for the vehicle.
The Citroen e-C4 X is expected to go on sale in Europe in early 2023, joining the Citroen e-C4 hatchback available since late 2020. Both models are part of Citroen's electrification strategy, which aims to offer a fully electric or plug-in hybrid version of every model in its range by 2025.

The e-C4 X will be offered in three trim levels: Sense Plus, Shine, and Shine Plus. The Sense Plus trim comes with standard features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and blind spot monitoring.
The Shine trim adds features such as front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
The Shine Plus trim tops the range with features such as leather upholstery, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with a massage function, a premium sound system by Focal, a 360-degree parking camera, and a semi-autonomous driving system called Highway Driver Assist.
The e-C4 X will also offer a range of personalization options, such as different roof colors, interior ambiances, and exterior packs.
